Positive change at The Woodbine Centre – Supporting Meaningful Lives

Expanding upon the pioneering work carried out by Amara Care over the last 5 years, we are taking the support of people with learning difficulties to the next level.

The incorporation of Frankish Training Ltd and Woodbine Independent Living Development Ltd (WILD) – (a social enterprise); has enabled us to offer a genuine, long term employment pathway to our existing users and people in the local community.

The social enterprise will offer vocational respite and meaningful day service opportunities for people, to make high quality and saleable, horticultural based items that will be taken out and sold in the wider community. Each item made, every gardening task completed and every item sold will carry an appropriate piece rate and all individuals concerned will be paid on this basis for the work they have done. The work carried out by users of WILD can be continued and accredited certification can be gained through 12 week training courses to be run from the centre. The courses can be completed at entry level and NVQ level and can be tailored to suit individual needs. We will support and train people to meet their own basic needs and endeavour to meet their aspirations, raise their self esteem and help them become a valued member of the community.

We aim to increase independence levels and to support meaningful lives.

Please invest a few minutes of your time to watch the enclosed DVD, after which we invite Email, telephone calls and visits to the Woodbine Centre, to find out more about the benefits at first hand.
